Getting Personal Loans after Bankruptcy

Bankruptcy is a double-edged sword. The good thing about it is you get a clean slate to start over with because all your debt is wiped clean except for student loans. On the other hand, it also means that you have a bankruptcy report which will stay on your record for at least seven years. Nothing says “stay away from this guy” like a bankruptcy report on your credit report. So, what will happen of you need money and you have no other option but to get a loan? You will be very glad to know that you can still get personal loans after bankruptcy. Here is how you can do it.
The first thing you must do is get a credit report. You can request for a free credit report from one of the three credit bureaus, TransUnion, Experian and Equifax. If you have already requested for a free report earlier in the year, you will be asked to pay for it but it is just a very small amount. Check your credit report carefully for errors. If there is any, report it and have it corrected. This should be the first step regardless if you are getting emergency cash loans for unemployed people but for all types of loans. You should never get a loan without the slightest awareness of your credit score.
If you wish to get a loan from your local bank, you should make an appointment with your loan officer. Tell him or her that you would like to request for a personal loan and be honest about your current situation. Do not forget to mention the bankruptcy on your record. It is very important that you do not hide anything from your loan officer. They will eventually find out but it is better that they find out from you.
You should opt for a secured loan. Most banks will not lend to people who have bankruptcy reports unless they have collateral. You can use your home, car or other valuables as collateral. You should not only get the loan because you need money but because it will help you reestablish your credit. Just make sure that you make payments on time so that you can slowly but surely rebuild your credit.
